The Drone International Symposium 2026 returns to Florence, Italy, from 28 to 30 October, bringing together leading researchers, universities, startups, industry representatives and public institutions to explore the latest developments in drone technologies and their real-world applications.
We are pleased to share that two IAM-CC project partners, ABzero and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), are among this year's co-organisers.
Now in its third edition, the Symposium was established through a collaboration between the Institute of Applied Physics of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-IFAC), ABzero and the University of Vigo in Spain. This year, TU Delft joins the organising team, further strengthening the event's international scientific network.
The programme brings together experts from across the European drone ecosystem, including four distinguished speakers who have recently been awarded prestigious European Research Council (ERC) grants.
IAM-CC partners contributing to the programme
Giuseppe Tortora, co-founder and CEO of ABzero, represents the company on the Symposium's Programme Committee as Program Chair for Industry and Startups.
Dr Elena Amaglio (Ospedale San Raffaele, Milan) will present the IAM-CC project with her presentation titled "IAM-CC: Competence Center to Assess Social Readiness for Innovative Air Mobility in the Milan Healthcare Context".
Dr. Pasquale J. Capasso and Dr Aurora Forcella (EuroUSC Italia) will present the IAM-CC project with the presentation titled "Advancing Innovative Air Mobility through SAMWISE 2.5: IAM-CC Approach to Safety, Society and Regulation"
The presentations by Ospedale San Raffaele and EuroUSC Italia will provide an opportunity to introduce IAM-CC's work on societal readiness for Innovative Air Mobility, with a particular focus on healthcare applications, safety and regulatory considerations.
